یادداشت | As an Infant/Toddler and Early Childhood Educator, Birth and Postpartum Doula, and Family Resource Facilitator, I have worked directly with families for over 12 years. This book captured all that I have felt over the years working in group care for children. It helped me realize I am a maternal feminist who knows the most important role and the most significant achievements I will make, will be as a mother. I strongly believe in attachment parenting and there is research-based information out there proving children thrive emotionally, physically, and intellectually with that approach. Even though I worked in the industry, I don't believe young children should be in care for long hours every day and this book will explain the need to advocate not just for better quality child care, but to overhaul parental leave and benefits to ensure family comes first in our society. It may take generations, but the investment now will most certainly create a more empathetic, kind, productive, motivated, and conscious generation. This book is complementary to the book, "The Price of Privilege." Children need to be shown respect, unconditional love, clear limits and boundaries without reward or punishment, be internally motivated to contribute to their family and the community as a whole. Parents are their most significant models and we have a huge responsibility. This book is so refreshing and makes me even more inclined to sing its message from the rooftops. In a day when so many of us our pushing our children away, leaving them to cry-it-out to 'train' them, isolating them in punitive time-outs and using threats and ultimatums all the time; THINK TWICE about the parenting choices you make. Look inside yourself, get help, take courses and learn about attachment parenting - Gabor Mate, Gordon Neufeld, and Dr.Sears. Fabulous book - a MUST READ! |
