Clinical psychology ؛ Family ؛ Identity (Psychology) ؛ Self ؛ Social groups ؛ Social sciences ؛ Popular Social Sciences ؛ Self and Identity ؛ Sociology of Family, Youth and Agingچکیده : This book presents an incisive and engaging account of love, intimacy and personal life in contemporary Western society. The authors draw on rich qualitative and large-scale survey data to explore how couples communicate with each other, negotiate the pressures and pleasures of parenthood, and the vagaries of sexual desire and intimacy across life course. Focusing on 'the everyday', Couple Relationships in the 21st Century unpicks the ordinary and often mundane relationship work that goes into sustaining a relationship over time, breaking down the dichotomy between enduring relationships of quality and good enough or endured relationships. It contests the separation of couples into distinct relationship types - defined through age, parenthood or sexuality. Looking through the lens of relationship practices it is clear that there is no 'normal couple': couples are what couples do. With a foreword by Dr Reenee Singh, Director, London Intercultural Couples Centre and Co-Director, Tavistock Family Therapy and Systemic Research Centre, this new extended edition provides an invaluable critical insight on contemporary experiences of coupledom and will be essential reading for scholars and students, clinicians working in couple and family therapy, and those involved in relationship support services لینک ثابت رکورد: ../opac/index.php?lvl=record_display&id=2289 زبان مدرک : English

Family ؛ Juvenile delinquents ؛ Social groups ؛ Social policy ؛ Social sciences--Philosophy ؛ Social service ؛ Youth Offending and Juvenile Justice ؛ Children, Youth and Family Policy ؛ Social Care ؛ Social Theory ؛ Social Work and Community Development ؛ Sociology of Family, Youth and Agingچکیده : This book explains and theorises the ways in which family policy instruments come to shape the routine care arrangements of young children. Drawing on interviews with close to a hundred parents from very different walks of life in urban and rural Romania, the book provides a rich account of the care arrangement transitions these parents experience during their children's first five years of life. The influence of family policies emerges as complex and uneven, affecting childcare decisions both directly and indirectly by contributing to the reproduction and legitimation of age-related hierarchies of care ideals. These cultural artefacts, reflective of both longstanding institutional legacies and recent policy innovations between 2006 and 2015, are the prism through which mothers and fathers from diverse backgrounds view and make decisions about their children's care. This unique volume will be of interest and value to students and scholars of childcare, its organisation and family policy, specifically in post-socialist contexts مندرجات Chapter 1. Family ؛ God-Stare ؛ Godچکیده : Our families are in trouble. They are under siege. Divorce is rampant. Parental rights are eroding. Social welfare coercion is on the rise. Governmental intervention has become commonplace. One legislative and judicial booby trap after another has been set, right in our own backyard.
Many social analysts and Christian counselors fear that if basic family structures continue to sustain such destructive attacks, they will not survive, and the very foundations of Western civilization will crumble. Helpless in the face of impending calamity, they do not know what to dothey don't have answers.
But the Bible does.
In this volume of the groundbreaking Biblical Blueprint Series, Rev. Ray Sutton outlines what those answers are. He shows how these bombs can be defused. He assures us that families can be saved from the ravages of this revolutionary siege if only we would obey Scripture's clear commands.
The Bible tells us what to do, when, where, how, and why. It offers us "blueprints" for victory, Who Owns The Family? lays out that "blueprint" simply, practically, and understandably. It demonstrates that neither the state bureaucrats nor the courts control our families' futures. God does.
About the Author: Rev. Ray R. Sutton is Bishop Coadjutor in the Diocese of Mid America of the Reformed Episcopal Church as well as Rector of the Church of the Holy Communion, and professor of scripture and theology at Cranmer Theological House. He is the author of several books, including That You May Prosper: Dominion by Covenant.

Families ؛ Families-Social aspects ؛ Personality ؛ Population ؛ Social psychology ؛ Sociology ؛ Family ؛ Personality and Social Psychology ؛ Population Economics ؛ Sociology, generalچکیده : Lone parenthood is an increasing reality in the 21st century, reinforced by the diffusion of divorce and separation. This volume provides a comprehensive portrait of lone parenthood at the beginning of the XXI century from a life course perspective. The contributions included in this volume examine the dynamics of lone parenthood in the life course and explore the trajectories of lone parents in terms of income, poverty, labour, market behaviour, wellbeing, and health. Throughout, comparative analyses of data from countries as France, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Switzerland, Hungary, and Australia help portray how lone parenthood varies between regions, cultures, generations, and institutional settings. The findings show that one-parent households are inhabited by a rather heterogeneous world of mothers and fathers facing different challenges. Readers will not only discover the demographics and diversity of lone parents, but also the variety of social representations and discourses about the changing phenomenon of lone parenthood. The book provides a mixture of qualitative and quantitative studies on lone parenthood. Using large scale and longitudinal panel and register data, the reader will gain insight in complex processes across time. More qualitative case studies on the other hand discuss the definition of lone parenthood, the public debate around it, and the social and subjective representations of lone parents themselves. This book aims at sociologists, demographers, psychologists, political scientists, family therapists, and policy makers who want to gain new insights into one of the most striking changes in family forms over the last 50 years. Families ؛ Families-Social aspects ؛ Industrial psychology ؛ International economics ؛ Industrial and Organizational Psychology ؛ Familyچکیده : This pioneering work aims at understanding the impact of non-standard (evening, night, weekend) working time on family cohesion, meaning parent-child interaction, partnership quality and divorce or partnership dissolution. 'Out of time - the Consequences of Non-standard Employment Schedules for Family Cohesion' is the first work to treat this important topic in a cross-national, comparative way by using data from two large comparable surveys. The impact of work in non-standard schedules on workers can be divided into individual and social consequences. Research so far has shown the clear individual effects of these schedules, such as increased stress levels and sleeping and physical disorders. There is less clarity about social consequences. Either no or positive effects of these types of schedules on workers and their families are found, or a significant negative impact on the relations between the workers and others, especially other members of the family is shown in research results. This Brief compares the Netherlands and the United States of America, countries that both show a high prevalence of non-standard schedule work, whereas both operate in very different institutional and welfare regime settings of working time regulation. By combining both quantitative and qualitative data, the authors are able to provide generalized views of comparative surveys and challenging those generalizations at the same time, thus enabling the reader to get a better understanding and more balanced view of the actual relationship between non-standard employment schedules and family cohesion مندرجات Introduction -- Where are Nonstandard Schedules Located and Who Works in Them?
